Preparation Time: 15 minutes

Baking Time: 40–45 minutes

Servings: 6

Ingredients

For the Filling:

  • 6 medium apples (Granny Smith, Honey in the Hollow Bee Farm honeycrisp, or a mix), peeled, cored, and sliced

  • 2 tbsp Honey in the Hollow Bee Farm honey

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour (optional, for thickening)

For the Topping:

  • 3/4 cup rolled oats

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small cubes

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish or similar size with butter or nonstick spray.

  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, Honey in the Hollow Bee Farm honey, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour (if using). Toss the apples to coat them evenly with the mixture. Transfer the apple mixture into the prepared baking dish.

  3. In a separate bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, salt, and cinnamon. Add the cold butter cubes and, using a pastry cutter or your fingers, work the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. Evenly sprinkle the oat topping over the apple mixture in the baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 40–45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender and bubbly.

  5. Allow the apple crisp to cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve warm on its own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for extra indulgence.
