Preparation Time: 15 minutes

Cooking Time: 25 minutes

Servings: 6 (approximately 24 meatballs)

Ingredients

For the Meatballs:

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (or ground turkey)

  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (whole wheat or regular)

  • 1 egg, lightly beaten

  • 2 tbsp Honey in the Hollow Bee Farm honey

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/4 cup grated onion

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional)

For the Honey BBQ Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite variety)

  • 3 tbsp Honey in the Hollow Bee Farm honey

  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or grease it lightly.

  • In a large bowl, combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, egg, honey, minced garlic, grated onion, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. Mix gently until well combined.

  • Use a tablespoon or small scoop to portion out the mixture, rolling it into evenly sized meatballs (about 1 inch in diameter). Place the meatballs on the prepared baking sheet.

  • Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until the meatballs are browned and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 160°F/71°C for beef or 165°F/74°C for turkey).

  • While the meatballs are baking, combine barbecue sauce, honey, apple cider vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce in a small saucepan. Heat over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until warmed through.

  • Remove the baked meatballs from the oven and transfer them to a large bowl. Pour the honey BBQ sauce over the meatballs and toss to coat them evenly.

  • Serve the meatballs hot as an appetizer, or pair them with mashed potatoes, rice, or a side salad for a complete meal.
